Well, no.
BMW created the X1 in 2009, which made Audi to borrow the idea from BMW two years later.
The X1 is the benchmark. Others follow it.

Gurjinder - If you read Top Gear magazine every month & watch their show even once in a while, you should know by now that the X1 is an utter disappointment.
There are multiple threads on other forums including ownership reviews of X1 and how much they regret buying it.

Even I was thinking it was BMW who made diesel sports car until i read that AR's 164 diesel was doing 0-100 in 7-8 secs in 1980s. BMW of 80s were non aerodynamic & so hillarious in looks. Much to the like of awkward looking cars in old hindi movies
